ECHO allows you to talk in confidence to other people who understand how you are feeling. ECHO provides mutual support and information for people who have experienced self harm age 18 and above.

 What will ECHO offer me?

• Information about alternative ways of coping
• Awareness and understanding
• A safe, confidential and supportive environment

 How will ECHO help me? 

ECHO offers different ways to support you depending on what you feel you need, this could be:

• Talking with other group members in a safe environment
• Talking one-to-one with people who understand what you are going through
• Attending workshops to learn about new ways to cope
• Getting information about other places that can support you
• Using the ECHO helpline in times of crisis

 Is ECHO for me? 

Self-harm refers to acts which involve inflicting injury on your own body. There are many forms of self harm. Examples include:

• Eating disorders
• Alcohol abuse
• Drug taking
• Cutting
• Burning

Your self-harm might feel like it helps to:

• Release anger and tension
• Provide relief from painful feelings
• Cope with difficult situations
• Focus on physical pain instead of emotional pain
