On July 14th 2016 it will be ten years since Potteries Housing Association became Brighter Futures. We will be marking the occasion with a celebration and awards ceremony for our hard working staff and volunteers.
Brighter Futures was originally known as Potteries Housing Association and was set up in 1974 to provide homeless people with somewhere to sleep.
By 2006 the organisation was becoming much more than a housing association, so a new name was needed. After discussions with customers and staff the name Brighter Futures was born.
Brighter Futures now offers a range of services to local people who find themselves in need of extra help to live their lives. The organisation supports people through a variety of different types of services from telephone support to outreach community based and accommodation based support services, working in partnership with a number of other local agencies.
Chief Executive of Brighter Futures Helena Evans says,
“It’s been a fantastic ten years for Brighter Futures. Over the last decade we’ve seen the business grow and diversify allowing us to extend our offer to customers living across the city and within surrounding areas. We’ve managed a successful programme of developments and property maintenance programmes, investing more than £10million pounds worth of housing into Stoke on Trent. We also employ more than 200 people and help train hundreds of customers and volunteers each year.
I’m excited about what the next ten years will bring us. We have further development plans within Stoke-on-Trent and we’re looking forward to continuing to support our customers to maximise their potential strengths and aspirations enabling them to lead fulfilling and brighter lives.”
