Grand opening of Brighter Fires
Brighter Fires, our new recycling scheme is finally up and running. Thursday 8th saw the grand opening, held at GrowthpoinT nursery and attended by Brighter Futures staff, customers, board members and Sue, a representative from B&Q Meir.
The good old British weather didn’t let us down and it bucketed down throughout most of the proceedings, but the skies did clear and the sun shone whilst Mike Wolfe, Chairman, did the honour of officially opening the scheme and lit one of the first paper logs produced at the site.
Everyone who took the tour around the scheme was very impressed and offers of waste paper were flooding in – hang on, let’s see if we can cope with our own first! Brighter Futures Catering provided a wonderful buffet and Clare Roberts worked hard all day to ensure that everything ran smoothly.
On Friday we did it all again with a group from B&Q and Mark Fisher MP who was also very impressed. A great picture in The Sentinel rounded off energy week nicely and now the hard work of actually making the logs on a large scale begins…
