Brighter Futures is pleased to confirm the appointment of Simon Wilson as the organisation’s new Chairperson. Simon takes over from Sarah Hill who retired from the role in September.

Simon founded and leads a consultancy working with public sector and not for profit organisations.  He works locally, nationally, international and is the national Chair of the relationship support charity, Relate.

In former roles Simon chaired Homeless Link, the umbrella group for rough sleeping organisations, and New Outlook, a housing association specialised in supporting people with visual impairment and complex needs based in the Midlands.

Simon’s appointment with Brighter Futures coincides with the launch of their new corporate strategy: Housing, Health, Hope.

They hope to expand on the work they’ve done to support people with complex needs over the last 46 years. They’re a diverse, 365 days-a-year, organisation that provides housing, support for mental health and wellbeing, and a route out of homelessness for vulnerable people in our communities.

They also recognise that people are key to delivering their goal – and will continue to build a high-performing, engaged, and resilient workforce.

On his appointment as Chair, Simon says:

I am thrilled to be joining such a dynamic, committed, and the inspirational team at Brighter Futures, at both an exciting and challenging time for the organisation.”

“I’ve followed their work for many years and seen the difference they’ve personally made to people. It’s a privileged position and I’d like to thank my predecessors for their hard work and for leaving me with such a great opportunity to take it forward.

“It’s important that we, our customers, and our partners all know what we want to achieve over the next few years and the steps we’re taking to get there. We want to ensure that we deliver the best services available to our customers and continue to help them live fulfilled lives.”

Helena Evans, Chief Executive of Brighter Futures says:

“I’m very pleased that Simon has agreed to join us. He brings a wealth of experience, passion, and vision to lead our new corporate strategy.

“I’m looking forward to working with him and I’m excited about the direction we’re going in as an organisation.”
