Brighter Futures Housing First Coventry service, launched in July 2019, is currently supporting 35 people on caseload.
18 of these customers are currently housed – with wraparound support operating 24 hours a day for 365 days a year.
Housing First looks at things differently than traditional homeless services. Accommodation is provided first as a right and not last as a reward. You’ll need to be prepared to commit to working together with us. We believe that with a secure stable home you can be supported to address any other issue.
To deliver Housing First Coventry, we work with Coventry City Council, ARC CIC (a drug and alcohol outreach service) and a range of other providers of services to rough sleepers in the city.
The contract, worth £1.3m over three years, was successfully commissioned by Coventry City Council and aims to help to reduce Coventry’s growing homelessness numbers.
Lynda Taylor, Housing First Manager in Coventry, said: “How local agencies and housing associations have embraced Housing First fantastic. It is a new way of supporting people with experience of homelessness and provides the most vulnerable and excluded people in our communities with a safe and stable place to call home.
“For many, this will be the first time that they feel they have choice and control in their lives, and that they can begin to plan for the future.”
Brighter Futures also leads the Housing First service in Stoke-on-Trent.
