Stoke-on-Trent Central MP Jo Gideon joined Brighter Futures Rough Sleepers’ Team on Hanley walkabout to support Stoke-on-Trent homeless.
Stoke-on-Trent Central MP, Jo Gideon joined the Brighter Futures rough sleepers team on an outreach shift in Hanley, on Friday 4th March, to see how the team supports rough sleepers in Stoke-on-Trent.
Jo said she wanted to learn more about the issue of homelessness and how people came to be on the streets. The Member of Parliament spoke with some of the city’s most vulnerable on the early morning walkabout to offer support and check on the welfare of people sleeping rough in the city centre.
The Brighter Futures rough sleepers team offer help and support to anyone who is rough sleeping in Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme, the Team go out 365 days a year looking for people who are sleeping rough and support is available seven days-a-week, 24-hours a day.

“We were delighted to welcome Jo out with us and give her an insight into the work we do to support rough sleepers to move into accommodation.”
“We provide support throughout the year, 365 days of the year. Some people who we support have been homeless on and off for many years. Our role is breaking down the repetitive cycle that people find themselves in. This can be the result of underlying complex issues, such as trauma, breaking down barriers that are preventing a person from sustaining accommodation.
“Our dedicated staff deserve enormous credit for what they do working outside in all weather, providing support, advice, accommodation options, food and drinks to people at a very difficult time in their life.
